Job Purpose
Working in a hybrid work environment as part of the market leadership team, the General Manager oversees the operations of branch locations (LBM, Truss, and Windows), including:
- Production
- Shipping/Receiving/Delivery
- Warehouse/Inventory
- Hardware
- Maintenance
Oversees administration and leadership for lumber/building materials, windows, and truss components, with responsibility for the safety program, inventory management, and related performance metrics. The goal of this position is to advance company goals, deliver on customer promises, and consistently lead with initiative and integrity. This position is key to customer-facing activities by collaborating and supporting sales and as the lead representative of the operating company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting monthly/annual AOP goals for OPEX management and collaborating with the company leadership team to meet or exceed profitability goals.
- Reviews performance by monitoring operating metrics for yard operations, delivery, inventory, and customer satisfaction while engaging work teams regularly and providing direction to meet or exceed desired goals.
- Financial Accountability and Leadership - Review monthly financial statements and produce/review forecasts to understand the factors influencing company performance and take actions as necessary to achieve desired goals.
- Provide safety leadership to promote a safety-conscious work environment through employee engagement and mutual accountability. (DOT, OSHA, Training and Development.)
- Champion continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities with division management teams, proactively developing improvement strategies, and enlisting the appropriate resources as needed to develop and execute plans in a timely manner.
- Sales support (inside sales representatives and estimating) report directly to the General Manager, who is responsible for coordinating sales activities and customer commitments with the Market Sales Manager to ensure the highest quality customer service.
- Engages workforce in continual improvement initiatives to ensure we are eliminating all forms of waste from the operation and maximizing process efficiencies
- Participates in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning processes as appropriate to proactively direct resources to meet goals and commitments in a business-minded manner.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
- Collaborate and support initiatives with other Kodiak Building Partners operating companies by proactively identifying areas of mutual interest, establishing and maintaining regular meetings and information sharing, and fostering a culture of intercompany teamwork.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Qualifications
- Strong LBM operations background including demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- 5+ years of experience in LBM management
- High emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
- High comfort level working in a diverse environment
- Works well with upper management as well as subordinates
- Well-versed in Microsoft products
- Prefer a strong continuous improvement background
Working conditions
- Job requires some extended hours, as needed, to accomplish job requirements.
- The job requires working in a manufacturing environment, which includes high temperatures and humidity.
- The job requires working in and around machinery and associated safety risks.
- Job requires interaction with all levels of the organization including staff management, sales, manufacturing staff, and all their direct reports (as needed).
- Job requires interaction with customers to resolve issues.

Compensation
- $130,000-$225,000 salary range (includes base salary and bonus)
